The maiden edition of Femi Gbaja Kids’ Cup for Primary Schools in and around ward G2, Surulere Constituency 1 of Lagos State is billed to hold between February 6 and 7, 2019.
Draw for the 5-Aside Tournament slated for the Gbaja Boys High School Mini Stadium were made Monday with all 10 schools set to feature in the knock out series on February 6 ahead of the third place game and final match Thursday.
The tourney being proudly sponsored by Honourable Eric Eninla Otinwa, would be used to discover talented young footballers that would be helped to various football academies in the nearest future.
Honourable Otinwa confirmed that participating schools would be provided transport to the venue, while ambulance and other medical services would also be made available.
“We’re committed to giving young players early exposure and we’ll inspire them to greater height. We’ve a big Speaker’s Cup coming up in the month of May, but kids and their teachers are in for a good time,” said Hon. Otinwa, who added that the tourney is his own way of further supporting Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and raising future leaders and players.
Meanwhile, pairing for Wednesday’s matches indicate that Adebola Baptist School will face Surulere Baptist School in the opening game with Atanda Olu meeting Elizabeth Fowler, while Lagos Progressive Nursery & Primary School will lock horns with Raufu William School, just as Akin Jacobs will meet Estate Baptist School, while Premier Day and Adisa Bashua will play the final match of the day.
