MFM FC of Lagos on Wednesday recorded her first away win of the season beating Remo Stars in Osogbo in Match day seven of the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Speaking at the end of the match, Coach of the side, Fidelis Illechukwu stated that getting a first away win is a dream come through and will further inspire the team into getting more in subsequent games.
“We are happy because we have been looking for an away win since the start of the season. We came close against Rivers United but we were unlucky to have conceded an own goal but for now we thank God that we have finally gotten that.
Despite getting the maximum points Ilechukwu has also taken time out to commend his opponents over their style of play.
“I think Remo Stars played better but they did not get enough scoring opportunities, we got about two chances and scored but I must note that our defenders did well to keep us in the game till the end of the match despite the continuous fire we received from Remo”
The Lagos based football outfit next game will be against Niger Tornadoes at the Agege stadium in Lagos and Ilechukwu is confident of a win but insists that the game will be difficult with the opponent getting a new coach who will be hoping to prove a point.
“Our next game is at home to Niger Tornadoes, it is going to be tough because their new coach just resumed and will be hoping to prove a point.”
Kabiru Adeniji scored the game’s only goal in the 13th minute. MFM is yet to lose to the Sagamu based team in the top flight in three games.
