From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano
Tragedy struck at Dinyarmadiga village, Takai Local Government Area, Kano on Monday when two moving vehicles collided, killing nine people and 15 others injured.
According to eyewitness account, the accident occurred at 9.30 a.m, when a VW Sharon bus with registration number, BUJ 389 AA-Jigawa and Toyota Sienna with registration number YLA 389 PK-Adamawa collided.
The Council’s Information Officer, Nasiru Abu Faragai who confirmed the accident, explained that the VW Sharon bus from Jos en route Kano was on a high speed, “as it tried to dodge a pothole, in the process, it veered into the lane of the Toyota Sienna coming from Kano heading to Yola , Adamawa state.
“The two vehicles had head on collision and the driver of the Toyota Sienna died on the spot with eight other passengers.”
He added that the injured were immediately taken to Takai General Hospital for treatment.
When contacted, Kano state Police Command spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna said he was yet to be briefed on the accident, but promised to reach out to the Press with more information in due cause.
