Nine die, 15 injured in Kano auto crash

Tragedy struck at Din­yarmadiga village, Takai Local Govern­ment Area, Kano on Mon­day when two moving ve­hicles collided, killing nine people and 15 others injured.

According to eyewit­ness account, the accident occurred at 9.30 a.m, when a VW Sharon bus with reg­istration number, BUJ 389 AA-Jigawa and Toyota Sien­na with registration number YLA 389 PK-Adamawa col­lided.

The Council’s Informa­tion Officer, Nasiru Abu Far­agai who confirmed the ac­cident, explained that the VW Sharon bus from Jos en route Kano was on a high speed, “as it tried to dodge a pothole, in the process, it veered into the lane of the Toyota Sienna coming from Kano heading to Yola , Ad­amawa state.

“The two vehicles had head on collision and the driver of the Toyota Sienna died on the spot with eight other passengers.”

He added that the in­jured were immediately tak­en to Takai General Hospital for treatment.

When contacted, Kano state Police Command spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna said he was yet to be briefed on the accident, but promised to reach out to the Press with more information in due cause.
