Barely four days to the February 16 presidential election, the Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA), has warned the electorate not to vote for the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement signed by its secretary Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, and obtained by The AUTHORITY yesterday, the organization warned that the re-election of President Buhari would worsen the current level of insecurity, hunger, poverty, anger and despair in the country.
According to Ugochukwu-Uko, who is also the founder of Igbo Youth Movement (IYM), the electorate should vote massively for the presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to restructure the country, and bring about prosperity in the land.
ECA accused President Buhari of dividing the country through his “parochial and nepotistic world-view,” adding that he turned the regions against each other “through his lopsided appointments,” as well as “horrified the nation by his tolerance of the brigandage of the herdsmen militia.”
The state read in part: “After destroying the economy, he (Buhari) embarked on a vengeful mission of punishing his political opponents in the guise of fighting corruption; creating fear and despair in the land.
“Buhari turned millions of our youth into codeine and tramadol addicts, his directionless policies also made Bet-naija gambling, the greatest preoccupation of the large army of unemployed youngsters created by his mismanagement of the economy.
“His aides constantly tell us, he is not aware of anything. His dear wife screams for all to hear, that her husband is not in charge. Many of his associates decamped to the PDP, abandoning him in his sinking boat.
“The cabal ruling Nigeria through him continues to destroy Nigeria, while hoping to manipulate the elections to earn a second term in order to turn this beautiful land to Somalia or Afghanistan.
“They redeployed security and Police officers in a manner to take advantage during the polls they know they are sure to loose, threaten foreign observers that they will certainly send them home in body-bags; removed the CJ unconstitutionally and denied opponents the use of government owned sports ground.”
He said that President Buhari had no reason to ask for a second term, saying the country would implode if he is given a second term in office.
According to the ECA scribe, “anyone who votes any other candidate aside Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, will only be helping inept President Buhari to hang on to power.
“The judiciary will be totally emasculated, the legislature, crushed and paralyzed, then the journey to Afghanistan will truly begin.”
