Elections: Police to deploy 4,452 officers in Nasarawa

Ahead of the Saturday Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Nasarawa State Police Command is appealing for intelligence report from the general public for any attempt to cause violence before, during and after the general elections, for the maintenance of law and order.

The Police commissioner in charge of Nasarawa State, Mr. Bola Longe said in a press conference in Lafia that, “The police is appealing to the good members of the public to assist it with intelligence report of any attempt to break the peaceful atmosphere of the state by disgruntled elements before, during and after the general elections.”

Insisting that the era was over, where some people deny useful information to the police authority about likely danger to the general public that may spread into breakdown of law and order, Mr. Longe however said the Nasarawa State Police Command will deploy 4,452 police personnel for election duty to maintain law and order.

He also added that they will comprise of conventional, mobile and counter-terrorism police personnel throughout the elections.

According to him” The command would be complimented by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Prisons Service, Federal Road Safety Commission, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and Nigeria Customs Service,” he added.
