With barely 72 hours to the election, a Non-Governmental organization, Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria (GOGAN), one of the President Muhammadu Buhari re-election support groups has intensified its campaign across the 774 and FCT and appeal to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on the need to scale up last minute awareness and sensitization on key issues of the voting process.
Speaking through the Media Director and the Director of Women Mobilization of the Group Prince Obiora Orji and Hajia Zainab who represented the National Coordinator, Chief Felix Idiga at a training event in Area 1 and the FRCN Conference Center at the weekend, the group called on INEC to dwell more on how the electorate can use their index in place of the thumb due to the size of political parties featured in the specimen of the ballot papers and the limited space provided.
GOGAN said that if the voters are not well educated, it will lead to large number of void votes due to space constraints in the boxes. It also appealed to INEC to speedily do this by effective dissemination of information through radios, literature manuals, TV, Jingles, Social Media, posters, town criers, and across various Nigerian languages.
The Ambassadors expressed optimism on INEC as an unbiased umpire to ensure credible poll come this Saturday. It also thanked the media team of the station for the massive awareness so far.
In a related development, GOGAN has extended its Corporate Social Responsibility to Nyanya Gwandara a suburb near Abuja city center. This has been part of the vision of the National Coordinator Chief Felix Idiga who addressed some community stakeholders of the area on the need for peaceful, free, fair and credible election.
According to Chief Idiga who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Women Mobilization GOGAN, Haijia Zainab Mohammed, GOGAN recognizes the place of any functional community as one with presence of government so as to guarantee conducive atmosphere for good living pointing out that its sustained rise in residential accommodation in the area has shown that the community is hospitable as it houses good number of families working in Abuja and its environs.
