Kano state government has purchased and installed three new high lift pumps worth millions of Naira, at Kusalla water treatment plant in Karaye local government area to boost water supply to Karaye, Gwarzo and Kiru local government areas in the state.
Equally, the government has procured three soft starters and two dosing pumps to facilitate operation of the plant.
During a visit to the site to monitor the installation, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje explained that the move was part of effort to his administration to make water for human consumption and domestic use readily available.
“Water is very important to human life and we understand that people in these three local government areas do not get enough because the water treatment plant needs some refurbishment. That is why we bought these pumps and authorized overhaul of the plant to ensure that it provides water adequately”, the governor maintained.
“I want to appeal to people of these three local government areas to be patient with us as the engineers are working on the plant relentlessly. I want to assure that effort will be intensified to ensure that the work completed in good time”, Dr. Ganduje promised.
Conducting the governor round, the Managing Director, Kano State Water Board, Alh. Auwalu Galadanchi told the governor that while the installation was going on, his men have started overhaul of other old components to ensure free flow of potable water.
“We are using the opportunity of the installation of the new machines to work on some old facilities and very soon, we shall start flushing of our tank so that we can serve the people better”, he said.
The member representing Karaye constituency, Nasir Dutsen Amare told the governor that what remained for the water station to function as required was the installation of a higher capacity generator to replace the one currently in use.
