Police assure on peaceful, credible elections in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has said that it will not condone any act of violence from any group or individual, as it had made all the necessary arrangements toward ensuring that the 2019 general elections are conducted with peace across the state.

Mr. Celestine Okoye, the newly posted commissioner of police to the state made this known while briefing news men on the activities and arrangements the command had so far made.

The commissioner disclosed that the command will not take it light against whoever is caught trying to breach the peace.

“Let me remind the general public as well as other stakeholders that our mission is to ensure the maintenance of peace and order, especially with the approach of the forthcoming 2019 general elections that we will not allow anybody no matter his societal status, to bring problem to the state. On the politician we say no to thuggery as anyone caught in the act will be severely dealt with,” Celestine added.

According to him, the command, in collaboration with other sister agencies, will work side-by-side with each other to ensure the elections are conducted freely without any hindrance.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria security and civil defence corp state command has re-iletrated its determination toward giving protection to all and sundry before, during and after the election.

In a subsequent briefing with newsmen in his office, the commandant of the command Alhaji Aliyu Alhaji Garba explained that the command had strategized and mapped out modalities toward addressing all that may come to disrupt the elections processes. We have arranged everything.

The command also warned social media operators to desist from spreading false information to the public by giving misleading information.
