The Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Abia State , Mr. Nnamdi Nwannukwu , has said that the command deployed 25,000 personnel to monitor the presidential and national assembly elections tomorrow in the state.
Nwannukwu who disclosed this to newsmen in Umuahia said the personnel would join other sister-security agencies to ensure hitch-free poll in the state.
The Commandant restated the readiness of his men to ensure the safety of voters in the state as they exercise their civic responsibilities.
He said that the command had been part of the series of the Inter-Agencies Consultative Committee on Elections Security meetings to strategise and adopt measures for adequate security before, during and after the polls.
According to him, officers and men of the command had received special training for the exercise.
He warned troubles makers to stay away from the state as anyone caught fomenting trouble would be dealt with according to the law.
Nwannukwu urged Abia electorates to come out enmass to exercise their civic duties without fear of molestation.
He advised parents and guardians against allowing their children or wards be used by politicians for ulterior motives.
"Parents are by this medium advised to warn their children and wards to desist from acts capable of breaching the public peace during the general elections."
He warned that any person caught involved in acts of violence during and after the elections would be made "to face the full wrath of the law ".
