The National Progressive Movement (NPM), has urged Nigerians to come out en-masse on Saturday to exercise their franchise by electing candidates of their choice.

In a release signed by Akachukwu Moses, the party told the electorate to be patriotic and exercise their civic responsibility as the nation is at crossroads, even as it added that the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) had enormous responsibility to ensure the elections are free and fair and provide level playing field to all candidates and their political parties participating in the general elections. The party however called for all hands to be on deck to ensure that the hitches and hiccups that led to the postponement of the February 16 polls are effectively handled and resolved to pave way for credible elections.

The will and mandate of the people, according to the release  must be respected, saying  power resides in the people, adding that any attempt to thwart the people’s mandate in various polls must be resisted and ruthlessly dealt with by security agents as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari. The NPM therefore stated that constitutional democracy has come to stay and would be deepened by ongoing electoral process, so as to take Nigeria to the next level, just as it urged various candidates to accept the outcome of the elections in good faith in tandem with the peace accords they signed, un order to strengthen Nigeria’s fragile democracy.
