The Imo General Assembly (IGA), in Nnewi has described the governorship victory of Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as total deliverance for the people of Imo State
The president of Imo General Assembly, Hon Chinedu Igwe, who spoke with journalists, said the governorship election availed the people of Imo state the opportunity to get rid of the incumbent governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and his political dynasty.
Hon Igwe said enthronement of Owelle Okorocha as the governor of the state was a gross mistake made by the people in 2011 adding that the attempt to foist his in – law, Uche Nwosu, as the governor was like adding salt to the injury.
Hon. Igwe, who is from the same political zone with the incumbent governor noted that the people of Imo state have been subjected to untold hardship in the past eight years and that the emergence of Rt Hon Ihedioha was a deliverance and respite for the people who have never had it so tough.
“We prayed, worked and hoped for this day of deliverance and God in his infinite mercy has answered our prayers and give us a leader who we expect to take Imo state to greater heights and make Imo occupy her pride of place again in the comity of states.
“The fall and fall of Owelle Okorocha is a lesson to everyone in the position of authority that they they cannot be powerful than the people on whose mandate they assume office. There will always be a day of reckoning, we are all happy to be alive to see the end of a tyrannical government that ruled our dear state like a private estate.” He noted.
Hon Igwe urged the governor elect who is a beneficiary of the change in the state to work for hard for the common good of all Imolites and by so doing write his name in gold in the sand of time.
On the claims that the incumbent governor is being attacked ahead of 2023 presidential election, the president asked “how can a person that failed woefully as a governor aspire to be Nigeria’s president.”
