Glo’s online talent hunt: Cinematographer wins N1m grand prize

Thirty-year-old actor and indigene of Benue State, Ejembi Simon Inass has won the ultimate prize of N1 million in the social media talent hunt competition, #GLOIN60SECONDS, organised by telecommunications solutions provider, Globacom.

A statement by the telecommunication giant said five other contestants, including two females, clinched the consolation prizes of N200,000 each and will join Inass to receive their winnings at a presentation ceremony billed for Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Lagos.

52 other lucky winners in the weekly competitions had earlier received their cash prizes of N50,000 each at designated Gloworld outlets across Nigeria.

Globacom said Inass, a graduate of Physics from Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, is also a musician and cinematographer.

The five winners of the consolation prizes include Kwara State-born 400-Level female Law student of the University of Lagos, Doyin Hafeezah Salau; a graduate of Biochemistry from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Abia State, Emeh Emmanuel Okwun.

Others are 17-year- old Ehimare Aaleeyah Shaka, a female aspiring musician from Edo State and ex-student of Early Heights College, Akute, Ogun State; 27-year- old Nwogwugwu Brainie, a Law graduate of Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka who currently manages ‘Jimmy’s Play House’, a dance, photo and music studio in Owerri, Imo State and 25- year- old John Sunday Peter, a graduate of Apa College of Education, Benue State.

According to Globacom, “the final 30 top videos selected by three celebrities were uploaded on Glo Instagram official page for seven days from March 1 to March 7 2019 for the voting public/followers. The voting results were reviewed on March 8 and the N1 million winner as well as the five winners of consolation prizes of N200,000 each were selected”.

The online social media contest which spanned 10 weeks, gave participants the opportunity to upload a 60-second video of themselves showcasing their talents in music, dance, comedy, poetry or any other creative ability and post on their social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag, #GLOIN60SECONDS.

Globacom added that the six grand finale winners met all the stipulated eligibility terms and conditions to participate in the contest. Other criteria satisfied by the winners included but not limited to positive identification of the participants in the video as well as the usage of valid and active SIM with matching SIM registration data by participants.
