Ahead of the Saturday’s governorship rerun election, Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has sued for peace, warning that the state government would not tolerate any breach of peace, under whatever guise.
Ganduje who spoke while receiving over 300 groups under the auspices of Kano Peace Ambassadors, however, assured that his administration will ensure protection of lives and properties.
He warned politicians against instigating instability, adding that, “as a governor of Kano state and the Chief Security officer of the state, I cannot sleep if any drop of blood is wasted.”
The Kano Peace Ambassadors assured him of their resolve to promote peaceful coexistence before, during and after the Saturday’s gubernatorial re-run election.
They over 10,000 people marched in solidarity with Ganduje, from the Emir’s Palace to the Government House where Governor Ganduje personally received them at the main gate of the Government House amid jubilations and fanfare.
A letter was given to Ganduje, explaining their clear resolve to always ensure that peace exists in the state.
Amongst the associations that paid the solidarity visit were National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kano State chapter, under the state chairman Comrade Kabiru Ado Lakwaya and National Association of Kano State Students Association (NAKSS) with the National President, Aliyu Maikasuwa Rano, amongst others.
