St. Paul Nur/Pry School emerges winner in Maths’ competition

St. Paul Nursery and Primary School, Jikwoyi, Abuja has emerged winner’s of the median Nyanya/Karu Regional Mathematics Competition organised by Smart Mathematical Centre.

St Paul also took the second position, while Nelson Mandela Academy, Abuja and Chilandy Educational Services, Jikwoyi took the third and fourth positions respectively.

In the individual pupil’s category, Ibe Chidiebere took the first position, Oyibo Prosper-second, Chinweze Chigosilim-third, Micah Oyema-fourth and Ijai Peter Benedict-fifth.

The pupils were awarded different level of scholarships by the organisers.

In his remarks at the event, Mr. Lanre Abe of the Department of Quality Assurance, Karshi Zone, Educational Research Centre, stressed the need for extra curricula activities in schools, adding that Mathematics is a special subject to be accorded adequate attention.

The Director, Smart Mathematical Centre, Mr. Smart Olumide Agboola said the competition is part of efforts to eliminate fear of Mathematics and end ‘Mathemaphobia’ in students and parents.
