CHIDI ASONYE writes that an Igbo group, Igbo Ekene Global Development Union has described the just concluded general election in Abia State and Nigeria in general as the most peaceful election ever witnessed in the country.
President of the Union, Amb. Moses Onyegbule while speaking with the Authority South-East Voice in Aba noted that prior to the election many people expressed fear that the outcome of the election would tear Nigeria apart but God intervened and the electoral processes went smoothly even to the chagrin of most clergies and spiritualists who had envisioned a country in disarray.
On the outcome of the governorship election in Abia State, he said, ” many people struggled to disrupt the zoning arrangement in Abia State and people thought if that was achieved there will be crisis in Abia but at the end the God of justice intervened and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu was re-elected to complete the eight year tenure zoned to Abia South.
“As a progressive organization, Igbo Ekene has never ceased to support leaders whose performance are not in doubt and we thank Abians for sticking to the devil they know instead of embracing the angel they do not know”.
Onyegbule reminded those who lost in the election of their campaign promises of putting Abia first before self and as such should volunteer to assist Gov. Ikpeazu instead of challenging his victory at the law court.
“I advise the losers to go back and plan better for the next election. They should plan properly and be in good terms with Governor Ikpeazu and Abia electorates to enable them cling the seat in the year 2023 general election.
They should also not go to court because this time every electoral process was clear and there was no evidence of rigging, they should rather support Dr. Ikpeazu for a total transformation of Abia”.
