Over 200 Archers drawn from various states across the country are participating at the second phase of the 2019 Nigeria Archery Federation Game Clinic, Coaching and Officiating Workshop holding from April 29 to May 4 , 2019 at the package ‘B’ multipurpose indoor Sports hall of the National Stadium Abuja.
The participating states include Delta, Plateau, Niger, Kogi, Benue, Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, Imo, Kano, Nasarawa, Kaduna and the federal Capital Territory Abuja among others.
Also on the list are the Defence Headquarters, the Nigeria Police, the Road Satey, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigeria Immigration Services while the Director of Academy EFCC, David Tukura-EFCC and Mr Olatunji Boluji, are among the resource persons.
President of the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAF), Mohammed Abdullahi, who is also the Deputy Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, said that this second phase workshop which is a follow-up to the one held in March in Abuja, is aimed at equipping Nigeria Archers with the proper rudiments of Archery Sport as obtained globally. He added that with the quality of talents that abounds in the country. Nigeria is not supposed to be found wanting when it comes to the game of Archery.
“We’re a country blessed with numerous talents, hence we must not be lacking in any sport not even Archery. That is why the Federation has taken it as a challenge to organise an all inclusive workshop where all the stakeholders are being captured knowledgewise.
“Though so many countries in both Europe and America and even Africa have already gone far in the sport, we’re not deterred in any way, knowing that we must catch up with them and may even surpass them at rate at which we’re movrng. Just give us a little time having known that the game just found its way to Nigeria. Based on this fact, the Federation under my able leadership is determined to lay a solid foundation for Archery in Nigeria,” Abdullahi stated.
