The Senate of the Federal University, Lafia, has confirmed the appointment of Professor Idris O. Amali as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Prior to his appointment, Prof. Amali was the director of academic planning in the university.
Receiving him in his office, shortly after the Senate confirmed his appointment, yesterday, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Lafia, Prof. M.S. Liman, congratulated Amali on his appointment.
Prof. Liman, noted that the appointment of Amali as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university was made at the right time when, according to him, efforts are being intensified to take the institution to the next level.
Liman expressed optimism that Amali would justify the confidence reposed in him by, especially, his colleagues and the university community at large.
Responding, Prof. Amali vowed to discharge his responsibilities diligently and to the best of his ability for the growth of the university and the nation at large.
Findings revealed that before joining the Federal University, Lafia, Prof. Amali, has taught in several universities, including the University of Maiduguri.
A professor of oral literature, the newly appointed deputy vice-chancellor has authored many books and supervised master and doctorate degrees thesis of many students, some of whom have attained the rank of professor.
Prof. Amali is a founding member and fellow of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) and many other professional bodies.
Noted for his calmness, articulation and passion for teaching and learning, Amali has distinguished himself in his chosen field of scholarship.
