ISAAC OJO writes that a new Sherrif has been transferred to the Central Police Station (CPS), Nnewi, Anambra State. He is Mr Uchenna Anionwo, a Chief Superintendent of Police(CSP).
Anionwo, before his transfer to Nnewi, was the second in command of the Ihiala Area Command, he was before then the Divisional Police Officer,( DPO)Unity Division Ibawa Nike Police Station in Enugu State Police Command.
He takes over at CPS Nnewi from Mr Adewuyi R. Babalola who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and transferred to State CID Awka.
Introducing the new Divisional Police Officer to newsmen in Nnewi, the former Divisional Police Officer, congratulated Nnewi community for getting a hard crime fighting police officer in the person of Mr Anionwo.
He commended the people of the commercial town of Nnewi for the cooperation he received from them when he was in the commercial town and called for the extension of the same cooperation to the new Sherrif.
The new Sherrif in town, Mr Anionwo assured the people of Nnewi that they will now sleep with their two eyes closed as he will ensure that the town remains crime free.
He promised to bring his wealth of experience over the years as a police officer to bare in ensuring that the commercial town of Nnewi remained crime free.
Anionwo solicited for the support of the people of the town, noting that he and his men and officers cannot operate effectively without the law abiding citizens making useful information available.
Sources said the new police boss is a crack crime fighting officer, who has gotten commendation twice from the Enugu State Commissioner of Police at the officers conference, for stopping kidnapping in his former division.
Our source said Nnewi people are lucky to have the new Sherrif as their divisional police officer.
