The immediate- past Senator representing Abia North , Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has made fun of his successor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s futile bid to become a presiding officer of the just -inaugurated 9th senate.
Ohuabunwa who was reacting to the outcome of the Senate leadership poll said the former Governor who, according to him, “made so much noise about becoming the Deputy Senate President, only to step down at the dying minute has exposed his true character as an inconsistent fellow”.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator, who is still at the tribunal with Kalu over the Senate seat said the former governor “is unstable and not valued” by his party, the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Ohuabunwa in a press statement release signed by the Director General of his Campaign Organisation, Chief Ndubuisi Eke, dismissed Kalu as “one who is ready to sacrifice the interest of his constituents for personal gains”
“Kalu can’t be trusted. He only talks of Igbo interest when it suits him. Contrary to his empty boasts, APC has no value for him.
“Remember that initially he said he was going for the Senate Presidency. Later he changed his mind and started vying for the Deputy Senate President.
“But towards the dying minute he gave up that ambition and said he had stepped down for his party’s anointed candidate.
“This is a man who said he had discussed with the President and he assured him South East would produce a presiding officer of the Senate.
“Kalu said he wanted to contest for the position of a presiding officer in Igbo interest. Yet, he voted against Igbo interest by openly adopting a man outside the South East zone “.
“He is not as popular as he erroneously assumes in APC and this only confirms the stance of APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, over Kalu’s ambition.”
