Anglican Communion to launch Book , Foundation in honour of Primate

With less than a year to his retirement , the Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria is set to hold a Book presentation and launch of a Foundation in honour of the Primate,the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh who is due to retire in March 2020.

Addressing a Press Conference yesterday in Abuja to herald the Book Presentation and Foundation Launch slated for 18th July in Abuja, the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Bishop of Kubwa Diocese, Rt.Rev Dr Duke Akamsoko pointed out that the programme was only a part of the series of events lined up to honour the Primate who have impacted positively in the Church.

” The Book titled “Not by Might , nor by power ” is a collection of selected messages of the Primate to the World. There is no doubt that the Book will be an inspiration to fellow Anglicans and Christians at large . it will equally be a reference material for preachers of the Gospel.

“On the other hand, Nicholas Okoh Foundation , an NGO which Will be unveiled on that same day is multifaceted, committed to promoting holistic development of the man.

“…in addition , the Foundation observes a great need to empower our youth to become better citizens of this great country. It is in view of this that, part of the modus operandi of the foundation is to award scholarships and grants to indigent students to enable them have access to quality education,” the Chairman said.

Fielding questions from journalists,on the process that would bring in a new Primate, the Registrar of the, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion Barr. Abraham Yisa explained that two members from the Clergy and Laity drawn from the 165 dioceses form the Primate Advisory committee and will play a major role in the emergence of a new Primate.

Former Primate Most Rev.d Jasper Akinola will be the father of the day , His excellency, Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is expected to be the Book Presenter -in -chief while Chief Oluwole Olanipekun SAN will grace the occasion as Chairman.

Other esteemed Special Guests of Honour expected are former Heads of States, Dr Gen Yakubu Gowon and Dr Goodluck Jonathan with Governors of Sokoto, Lagos, Oyo Edo, Imo Taraba Delta and Anambra States are also expected to be in attendance
