NLA organizes training for FCT librarians

The Nigerian Library Association (NLA) FCT chapter has organized a training for all librarians across the six Area Councils in the territory.

At the one day seminar held in Abuja, Chairman of the association Mrs Ajibola Olubisi called on the librarians to ensure that they put in their best at all times.

He pledged his leadership commitment to organizing workshops targeted at boosting the capacity and knowledge base of members.

Olubisi said that the essence of the seminar was to get members familiar with the requisite skills on how to operate efficiently in the library.

The chairman tasked government and private organization not to underscore the major role Librarians played in corporate governance.

He noted that the association deemed it fit to invite expert to brainstorm with members with a view to enhancing their knowledge on standard on library science management t for the benefits of researchers and members of the society.

“It is an obvious fact that most times our libraries are established devoid of minimum standard that guarantee the realization of their objectives and therefore, the seminar is intended to open discuss for addressing our many challenges beginning with this fundamental of requisite standard,” he explained.

The guest speaker and head of Library science of Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) Mr. Abdullahi Ibrahim shed more light on the overview of Library standards.
