From Pwanagba Agabus, Jos
Barely forty eight hours after the Plateau State Government gave a directive that all unstructured buildings within the metropolis be demolished by the appropriate authorities, the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB), on Thursday commenced demolition of unauthorised and substandard buildings in the city of Jos.
The board’s action commenced with the demolition of a two-story building situated at Mango Street, belonging to Alhaji Usman Tetengi.
It would be recalled that Governor Simon Lalong, had directed the JMDB, to mapped out such types of buildings and marked them for demolition following the calamity that befallen a 3-story building three days ago that claimed the lives of 14 persons and left 4 others injured.
The demolition of Tetengi house, followed an earlier partial collapsed of the building some weeks ago, prior to the collapsed at Butcher line, that claimed the aforementioned lives.
