Kano Director of Education appeals to Assembly on education development

The Director Kano Educational Resource Department (KERD), Malam Nura Sani Yakasai has appealed to the Kano State House of Assembly Standing commitee on Education to do all within it powers in facilitating the development of education in the state.

The Director who was speaking when he recieved the chairman and members of the committee on official visit in his office, said that the committee has a vital role to play in bringing about meaningful changes to the sector.

He disclosed that the education sector has for years been suffering from one problem to the other due to its capital intensive nature, therefore the commitee should explore viable measures for correcting the annomalies.

While congratulating the members for their appointment to serve in the education committee, he pledged the support and cooperation of the department for the success of the committee.

Responding, the chairman of the committee, Hon Muhammad Bello Butu-Butu said that they were at the KERD to familiarize with them as well as to know their level of progress and problems with a view to finding realistic solutions to them.

The chairman however, urged the staff of the KERD to consider their respective jobs as more of sacrifice thereby working tirelessly to continue to promote the state’s education system to a higher level, further expressing the need by the society and all stakeholders to put hands on deck in salvaging education.

During the visit, alot of issues were raised including the problems facing the sector as well as the need for prioritizing Girl-child education, elevations of inspectors on GL 15 to the status of directors and the need for critical x-raying of the sector for lasting proper solution among others.
