The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced its readiness to allow leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim EL-ZAKZAKY travel to India for medical treatment.
A press release from the DSS Monday night said the new development is sequel to an order of Justice Darius Khobo of Kaduna State High Court which gave El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat permission to go to India for treatment.
Dr. Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer, Department of State Services, in the press release said the Service is liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance.
“Conformity with the order is in line with the Service’s avowed commitment to the Rule of Law inherent in a democracy,” he said.
A Kaduna court on Monday granted El Zakzaky permission to go to India for treatment.
Reports said the Judge directed that El-Zakzaky travel with DSS officials amongst other conditions for his release.
El-Zakzaky and his wife had been in custody since 2015 when he was arrested after he and his followers blocked the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai in Kaduna State.
