MAURICE OKAFOR writes that the Enugu Executive Governor, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is yet to release the list of his full cabinet. There is expectation from the seventeen local government areas of the state from the political class on who and who would make the list.
Already the members of the state House of Assembly on break cut short their holidays for an emergency sitting to confirm the receipt of the first batch of commissioner 8 commissioner nominees sent by Governor Ugwuanyi for screening and confirmation. The nominees were members of his first cabinet.
The Eight commissioner nominees were Engr. George Nnaji, who hails from Enugu East local government area of the state was the immediate past commissioner for Works; Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, from Isi -Uzo local government area who was in charge of Local Government Matters in the first term and Hon Barr Charles Egumgbe from Udi local government area, who was in charge of water resources.

Speaker of the state Assembly, Hon Edward Ubosi, who commended his colleagues for attending the emergence plenary sitting, directed for the eight nominees to submit twenty five copies of their curriculum vitae to the clerk of the house urgently, and went back on their recess expected to end on September 17.
Enugu state has a tradition of producing at least one commissioner from each of the seventeen local government areas of the state. To that effect, the jostling for positions among the political class and non-political class, technocrats, friends of Governor Ugwuanyi etc still remains a trending topic in the state.
It was gathered that Governor Ugwuanyi had initiated a strategy of hosting political stakeholders of every local government to an inclusive meeting for selection of their own candidate but most of the meetings ended without achieving it’s set objective, as the stakeholders failed to agree on a particular choice of candidate for their local government.
Nine (9) local government areas pitched over one another over choice of their commissioner nominees are Oji River local government area, Awgu, Nkanu West,Enugu South and Enugu North local government areas.
Three months after his second term inauguration expectation is high for Ugwuanyi to complete his commissioner nominees selection even though it did not constitute a cog in the development of the state, as the permanent secretaries of the various ministries have continued to muscle the challenges of governance in the state.
