The controversy that had saturated the relocation of traders out from the Old Keffi Market to the new site provided by the state government, which house over 1300 shops and warehouses with modern facilities had finally came to an end.
Traders who had earlier kicked against government intention and as well as handing over the market management to a what they said was an offer to a non indigenous company, SANADA Global Link Limited from Kaduna ,no longer holds.
Both wholesale business and small scale trader have all moved to the new market site along Gauta community in Keffi local government area of Nasarawa state.
Commenting on the matter,the General Manager, Alhaji,Bala Mohktar,on behalf of the Managing Director, Alhaji Muhammed Jarume(Concessionaire)said the raging dust has been put off and that his organization is ready to ensure safety of traders occupying the facility.
He said over 40 staff were engaged for the smooth running of the affairs of the market,apart from the government owned workers as NSCDC and the police who are to ensure the security in the market premises.
The managing Director Alhaji Jarume , also added that despite the large investment of the state government in providing basic necessities befitting the modern market,SANADA GLOBAL LINK has also embarked on a cooperate social responsibility.
” We have drilled a motorised pole hole in the abattoir section and drainage system ” He said.
He further explained that market has facilities that can be occupied by banks and a spacious portion which it management has offered the NURTW for use as garage .
” Since the market was contracted government made it a policy that for a duration of one year no trader should pay for renting of the shop and until the elapsed of that directive we can not charge except the #5000.00 registration collected” He maintain.
It would be recalled that traders in Keffi had suffered losses due to fire outbreaks in four consecutive times periodically ,which prompted the rapid construction of the new market site by the immediate past government of Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura who commissioned same before his exit from government.
