The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Benue state Governor Samuel
Otorm and Bauchi state Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, on their victory at the governorship election petitions tribunal in their respective states.
The party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan on Tuesday said that the verdict of the tribunal is a clear consolidation of the triumph of the will of the people of the two states as expressly
delivered through massively voting for the governors in the March 9 governorship elections.
The PDP noted that the spontenous jubilation that greeted the verdict across the two states affirms the fact that justice was delivered in
the matters in line with the will and aspirations of the people.
“Indeed, Governor Ortom’s resounding victory at the election underlines the overwhelming acceptance of his leadership style as demonstrated in his unprecedented commitment to the welfare and development of his state despite daunting security and economic challenges.
“His re election marks the consolidation of good governance and contribution towards the uplifting of the living standard of the people in all sectors of life” the party stated.
The PDP described the excitement of the people of Bauchi state on the affirmation of the election of Governor Bala Mohammed as a mark of the repositioning of the state toward greater productivity in all critical sectors.
The party observed Senator Bala’s commitment to massive infrastructural
development across the state as well as economic development of the people directly reflect the desires and aspirations of the people of Bauchi state.
The PDP, in congratulating the governors, urged them to continue in their selfless services to the people in line with the manifestos of the party.
Meanwhile, immediate past Governor of Bauchi State and candidate of the APC,, Mohammed Abubakar, has declared his intention to appeal the judgement of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that affirmed the victory of his opponent Governor Bala Mohammed.
Speaking through his Media Aide, Ali Mohammed Ali, Abubakar disclosed that their lawyers have been instructed to file an appeal after studying the judgement.
He expressed the hope that justice would be done and that the APC and himself would be victorious at the Appeal Court to reclaim the mandate given to them by the people of the state.
Abubakar called on his supporters to remain calm, be law abiding and shun anything that will lead to the breach of peace in the state.
“We are peaceful and peace loving people in the APC, we believe in the rule of law and so we are going to tread the path of legal to reclaim the mandate massively given to us by the generality of the people of Bauchi state”, he stated.
In the same vein, Emmanuel Jime the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2019 election in Benue, has expressed his readiness to appeal the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal judgment which upheld Gov. Samuel Ortom’s election.
Jime, who was reacting to the judgement on Tuesday, in Makurdi that the tribunal was not fair to him and his party.
