Fresh troubles looms against Senator Elisha Abbo, who is currently in court over sex toy shop assault against a woman, as a group in Adamawa threatens to him to court.
The group, Adamawa Peace Defenders, has accused the embattled senator of making statements capable of breaching the peace of the state.
In a press release signed by Pwanabeshi Alson, Coordinator of the group, made available to the Authority Newspaper said, Senator Abbo referred to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as one “playing politics of religion”.
According the statement, “these are reckless words capable of pitching the people of one faith against the other, and we cannot tolerate leaders talking like this at a time when peace is very fragile”.
The group therefore, gave 5 days ultimatum for Abbo to retract or face legal action.
“We hereby demand with immediate effect the following from Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo;
“1. A retraction of all his fallacious and derogatory utterances against the Governor of Adamawa State (Video and literature) capable of inciting ethnic and religious crisis.
“2. A written apology signed by him to the people of Adamawa State for his derogatory comments capable of causing unrest, especially in the political arena and among religious and ethnic groups across the state.
The statement also added that ” we are giving Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo a five (5) days ultimatum to meet our demands from today or face the law”.
Similarly, the only female stakeholder from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Mubi, Hon. Hannatu M. Jarengol has called on Senator Abbo to seek redress within the party rather than take to social media.
She said as mother from the zone, ” I will not just seat and watch what we have suffered to build to be destroyed because of little differences which can be addressed internally”
According to the former development area administrator in the zone, the statements of Sen. Abbo who most youths looked up to is regrettable, stressing that both the governor and the senator are from the same zone and should work together to develop our state.
While describing the actions of Senator Abbo outburst as unfortunate and regrettable, Hon. Hannatu M. Jarengol called on Governor Ahamdu Finitiri not to allow to distract him from his mission of developing the state.
