Kogi CJ Swears in Edward Onoja as Deputy Governor

The former Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Chief Edward Onoja was on Monday sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Kogi state by the state Chief judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah.

In his remarks shortly after the swearing in ceremony in government house, Lokoja, the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello expressed joy over the non creation of vacuum after the impeachment of Elder Simon Achuba last week.

Governor Bello noted ” today’s ceremony was not a celebration time, nor the time to mourn as we have been called again to turn around the Fortune of Kogi State.”

He said “It’s good to be good. Chief Edward Onoja’s loyalty for this administration enhanced his elevation to this enviable position. And with God on our side, we will move Kogi State to the next level”

Alhaji Yahaya Bello commended Kogi State chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah for performing his constitutional role that sealed off the expected vacuum in the administration.

The governor also commended the state house of Assembly members for their subsequent courageous move to stabilize the system and the support for this administration.

Earlier, the Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole pointed out that the house followed due process in the impeachment of Elder Simon Achuba and the screening of Edward Onoja as the new Deputy Governor of Kogi state respectively.

In his remarks, the new Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja accepted the Divine elevation to serve Kogi State and commended the governor for finding him worthy to serve.

He also commended the former deputy Governor for his actions that hasten his divine destiny, promising to do his best to justify the confidence reposed on my him.

“With two of us on board now, I am assuring APC in Kogi State that November 16 governorship election is a walk over” he said.

The brief swearing in ceremony of the new Deputy Governor was attended by top government functionaries, law makers both at the state and federal, traditional rulers, party faithful and host of others.
