Build bridges of peace, Women appeals to Royal father

The Bassa women of Nigeria have appealed to His Royal Highness (H R H ) Aguma Bassa Turunku Chiefdom, Dr David Wodi Tukura, to bring his wealth of experience into helping build the bridges of peace in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.

It would be recalled that Toto Local Government Area has been engulfed in communal crisis since 1980s . Some people affected by the crisis are yet to return to their ancestral homes.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on women Affairs to H R H , Aguma of Bassa, Turunku chiefdom , Deaconess Zuma Mary Tukura, and made available to The AUTHORITY, yesterday, she called on the royal father to lead the campaign in preaching peace to the people of the area.

The statement also congratulated the royal father on his 59th birthday and also his 100 days on the throne of Turunku chiefdom.

“Your Highness, we thank God for giving the Bassa Nation an erudite scholar, brilliant tactician and strategist, sound administrator and consummate peace maker as our Royal father, ” the stated stressed.

The women further urged the Royal father, who, having served with the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution ( IPCR) where he was equipped with the skills for peace making and building to exhibit humility as a leader and join hands with other stakeholders in resolving the protracted Toto crisis.

The women noted that they were moved to pity because the crisis has under developed Toto Local Government Area.

It would be recalled that Dr. David Wodi Tukura ascended the throne as the first Aguma of Bassa Turunku chiefdom on May 28 , 2019.

The women assured Aguma Tukura that: “Your Royal Highness remain assured that all the mothers and women of the Bassa Nation are praying for you . We wish you long life and prosperity “
