Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has told members of his new cabinet that his Next Level administration will be focussing on education, health, economic empowerment and human development.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhamamd Garba and available to journalists, Ganduje said that it is no longer business as usual in running the affairs of the state.
He outlined the focus of his administration in the Next Level administration to be centered on human capital development.
He said the human capital development aspect will be carried out under three defined sectors of education, health and economic empowerment.
To this end, the Governor charged the newly appointed commissioners to sit up and face squarely the task of consolidating and building on the achievements so far by the administration in the state.
Ganduje spoke at the end of the maiden state Executive Council Meeting held Tuesday night at the Council Chambers, Government House, Kano.
He charged the commissioners to take full charge of the ministries assigned to them and parastatals under them for effective service delivery.
Ganduje also tasked the Commissioners to bring about their wealth of experience in bringing about the desired changes through the initiation of people oriented projects and programmes in all sectors of development.
The council also deliberated and approved the 2020 budget to be presented to the state House of Assembly by Governor Ganduje on Thursday, November 7, 2019.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano state chapter has congratulated the newly appointed Commissioners in Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s cabinet, otherwise known as the Ganduje Next Level Team.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, “we are also pleased to commend Governor Ganduje for his resolve to select the best hands that will steer the ship of development in Kano in the next four years.
“Indeed, the calibre of people selected by Governor Ganduje as members of his new cabinet clearly attest to his unflinching commitment to build on the modest achievements recorded in his first tenure for the overall development of Kano state. It also justified the seeming delay before the formation of his cabinet, as it is observed that he actually did enough homework before coming up with this fantastic Team.
“We are hopeful that the Team, dominated by experienced, learned, intelligent and pragmatic young administrators cum politicians will meet the expectations of the Kano electorate who wholeheartedly restored their confidence in Governor Ganduje by massively voting for him to govern Kano for another four years.
“We are particularly impressed with the re-appointment of our own, the former President of NUJ, Malam Muhammad Garba as the Commissioner of Information. As we congratulate and appreciate Malam Garba for the smooth working relationship we enjoyed with him in the last four years, we also urge him to increase the tempo by making relevant information always available for effective execution of our responsibilities as members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm.
“We also look forward to enjoying smooth working relationship with all the newly appointed Commissioners even as we remain committed to keep on serving as the Conscience of the masses and the electorate who look up to us to not only expose the wrongs of government and its officials, but to also ginger the system into doing the needful in terms of making sure that the people enjoy democracy and its dividends through good governance.
“Once again, we congratulate the Ganduje Next Level Team and pledge to always ensure that government do the right thing for the betterment of the society and the people who are the original owners of political power.”
