APC, PDP, 21 others signs peace accord towards Nov. 16 governorship election in Kogi

Aspirants of All Progressive Congress (APC), people’s Democratic Party (PDP) and 21 others on Thursday in Lokoja signed peace accord towards free, fair and peaceful election in Kogi State.

The representative of Governor Yahaya Bello of APC, Engr Musa Wada of PDP and other aspirants who signed the agreement alleys fear of insecurity but promised to abide by rules and regulations of the election.

The founder and Chairman of National Peace Committee General Abdulsalam Abubakar called on the political actors in Kogi State to work assiduously and ensure peaceful conduct of the November election on 2019 governorship in the state .

General Abdulsalami Abubakar who was represented by Rev. Father Attah Barkindo disclosed this at the dialogue forum with Stakeholders on peaceful conduct of Kogi Governorship election on Thursday in Lokoja.

Barkindo noted that that the NPC are not in Kogi State to support any political parties,stressing that the National Peace committee is aimed at ensuring peaceful conduct of governorship on November 16th .

In his remarks, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland , His Royal Majesty , Dr. Ado Ibrahim stated that the success of the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State is the responsibility of all and not only INEC and security agents.

The monarch therefore urged all the critical stakeholders to work in partnership with INEC and Security agents to ensure peaceful, credible, free and fair election in Kogi State.

The Obaro of Kabba who was represented by a former permanent Secretary ,Mr Oshagbemi also tolled the line of reasoning with Ohinoyi of Ebiraland saying a peaceful conduct of the governorship in election is very sacrosanct for unity of kogi state .

The residence Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) Prof. James Apam assured the stakeholders of peaceful ,free,fair and credible election adding that all the necessary arrangements have been put in place towards Kogi election.
