Church of Ascension, Ngodo Nise, Awka South South local government area, Anambra state at the weekend honoured the Archdeacon Agulu Archdeaconry, Ven Onyinyechukwu Odimegwu Ilione for his steadfastness in God’s vineyard.
Venerable Ilione was not alone as other awardees were recognized including High Chief Prince Uche Oduche ; Aghalibe Christopher Ugochukwu ; Chief Anthony Nwabuona; Ugondu Benaiah Nwoye Udeh; and Hon Innocent Ekemezie.
Others who were honoured along Ven Ilione were Dr Beatrice Obiageli Eweni ; HRH Queen Theresa Nkechinyelu Iloh, Odueze of Nise Kingdom; Right Hon Oseke Harford ; Dr Boniface Anene Amah , Sir and Lady Mathew Ezenwaka c/o Chief Nwachukwu Ezenwaka, Mr Innocent Njoku and Mr Ekene Ejiofor.
Receiving the award , the Archdeacon Agulu Archdeaconry and Vicar , St Peter’s Church Agulu, Venerable Onyinyechukwu Odimegwu Ilione commended the first local Helper and first Church Teacher of Ascension Anglican Church and wife, C/T Samuel Onyibo and Nneora Ngozi Joy Okoye for their steadfastness in the service of the lord.
Ven Ilione presented Okoye and wife to the throne of God’s mercy for more blessings and empowerment in the ministry. He equally thanked the new resident priest, Rev Shedrack Obidajua for presenting him with the service award.
He thanked as well the Ezebunagu Umuadimoji kindred Umugbulu for donating their portion of land free of charge for the Church’s development.
In his sermon, the residence Priest Church of Ascension, Ngodo Nise , Reverend Shedrack Odidajua reminded Christians that everything they own belonged to God Almighty and there is need to give without grudges. He commended Onyibor Okoye for initiating a building project which has advanced to roofing stage before he was transferred to St John’s Anglican Church Nise.
In his remarks, the immediate past Church Teacher of Church of Ascension, Onyibor Okoye thanked Ven Ilione for his services with humility while he served as the Venerable Nise Archdeaconry where he ensured peace persisted among the villages and churches, describing him as his father in the Lord.
Chairman of the Award planning committee , Mr Emmanuel Ikeji and Secretary, Engr Paul Adine as well as Mr Chijioke Udeh described the award as apt, even as they congratulated all who made the event a success .
