2023 Presidential Election: Need to call Ihedioha to order lest Imo PDP kiss the canvass.

By Obi Nwosu.

In the build-up to the 2023 general election particularly, the presidential election that comes up on February, 25, there is urgent need to call the short-lived former Governor of Imo state, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha to order. This call has become imperative given the divisive and belligerent attitude and disposition of the former deputy speaker, House of Representatives as it concerns Imo Presidential Council Committee (PCC) meetings and scheduled Local Government Area (LGA) rallies.

We view this moves as a continuation of his governorship re-election rather than campaigning vigorously for the presidential candidate of his party, Atiku Abubakar.

Just as time they say heals, same way it reveals the hidden truth behind every conspiracy and man’s inhumanity against his fellow man.

It will be recalled that the current controversies that has engrossed the Imo state chapter of the People’s Democratic party (PDP),in recent time is as a result of the ‘conscription’ of the Engr. Charles Ugwuh led SWC by its tax master, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who planned and rolled out the rejected controversial Imo state PCC list where membership was based on primordial and parochial sentiments.

The rejection of the formation of that embarrassment called PCC list by both the real stakeholders of Imo PDP and the Sen. Ayu led National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP was to Emeka Ihedioha and his co-travellers, the greatest affront to his undue and disastrous authority on the Imo PDP .

With his recent wobbling and bruised holds on the Imo PDP structure as amplified by the appointment of Rt. Hon. Greg Egu from his hitherto, conquered political territory, Ngor Okpala as DG and championed by the National Secretary of the party, Dist. Sen. Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (Sam Daddy), through his well structured and result oriented campaign organization called the Divine Mandate Movement, the desperation to recover his grip on the party is the reason for the scandals and media fireworks on both Sen. Sam Daddy and Rt. Hon. Greg Egu.

It will be recalled that sometime in November 2022, the PDP NWC led by Sen. Ayu in her wisdom and administrative authority summoned the Imo PDP stakeholders including the Engr. Charles Ugwuh led SWC where it harmonized and directed the cancellation and dropping of every suspension as planned, authorized and directed by Emeka Ihedioha and executed by Engr. Ugwuh and Ihedioha Re-election movement against the 17/18 LGA Chairmen who insisted that they be carried along and be considered in the finances and fundings from the national as stipulated in the construction of the party.

It is so discouraging to observe that the Sen. Ayu led NWC has become so docile and toothless to rein in this alarming rate of insubordination by the Charles Ugwuh led Imo SWC which has covertly and overtly insisted on the suspension of the 17/18 LGA Chairmen to the point where Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha now addresses the Vice chairmen to the purportedly suspended chairmen as acting chairmen against the Sen. Ayu led NWC directives.

Beyond the above, the inaugurated Imo PCC as approved by the NWC, NEC and the National PCC made provisions for both the campaign council chaired by Emeka Ihedioha and the management committee headed by Greg Egu as the Director General with specific roles and responsibilities. Why has Ayu and the national kept silent over the continued encroachment and invasion of the office, roles, duties and directives of the DG by the Chairman of the council? Why has the national overlooked the excesses of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who has always boasted that with Gov. Tambuwal as the Atiku/Okowa Campaign DG, he will always do whatsoever he wants and get away with it?

Besides the series of campaigns of calumny and scandalous media wars against Greg Egu since the successful hosting of Imo state Presidential rally of 17th of December 2022, grapevine discussions gathered that Tambuwal has approved and released 27. Million Naira to Emeka’s protesting team whose main target it is to discredit the success of Greg Egu’s led presidential rally.

With the avalanche of indiscretion unleashed on the PCC DG, one is tempted to ask the following questions.

Why would Gov. Tambuwal, the national DG of Atiku Campaign organization approve and release any amount to a state campaign council without the consent and notice of the state Director General of same campaign?

Why would a campaign council Chairman hold a meeting of the PCC without the notice, approval and not even any respect of consultations from the state DG ?

Why would the campaign council Chairman constitute, design and adopt LGA rallies of the state without the DG of the state that was not appointed by him ?

Why should Emeka Ihedioha work against the victory of the president/Vice candidates in imo state by this divisive attitudes?

Why is Emeka’s interest on his re-election while pretending to campaign and support Atiku even as all of the Senatorial, HoR and HoA candidates he is working with has no pictures of Atiku on their campaign posters and flex banners ?

Before it becomes too late, let the NEC , NWC and National PCC look into the concerns raised with the view to cautioning and warning both Emeka Ihedioha as PCC chairman and Charles Ugwuh as party chairman to steer clear from what they were never asked to do. Let them be told in clear terms to keep to their lane to quench this their ignited fire as being fanned by Gov. Tambuwal.

Let Emeka be told that his scheduled LGA rallies with Ahiazu LGA slated for the 13th of this month can best be described as a campaign for his re-election as has been seen as now the reason for his rejection of Greg Egu and several scandals against his DGship.

Let Emeka be told that any Presidential campaigns in Imo today without Greg Egu leading it is an anti campaign against Atiku and amounts to abuse of the selection and appointment of Greg Egu by both Atiku, his PCC organization, the NWC , NEC and other arms of the party which will never be treated with kids gloves but must be met with equal resistance.

This is the take of the majority of Imo PDP progressives.
