Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to stop handling the affairs of Nigeria with double standard.
Fayose who was in Benue State on Thursday to condole with Governor Samuel Ortom over the killing his people by herdsmen in Benue, said that the President had been bias in handling of several national issues, including the fight against corruption.
He noted that the killing in Benue happened because of the Federal Government’s inaction even after Governor Ortom alerted of the impending attack in the state.
The governor said that “the President must stop ruling Nigeria with double standard. Here is a situation where one person accused of graft will get bail and asked to go back to work and another in a similar situation is allowed to rot in jail.
“With this action, it is clear that they don’t want Nigeria to remain one, but the country will remain united. How can you say that the herdsmen are moving publicly with AK 47 with all the security there and they (herdsmen) will not be arrested?
“This is because those beating the drums for the killers are hiding at the backyard,” he noted.
Governor Fayose asked Ortom to look for an alternative platform to pursue his next political ambition.
In his response, Ortom said that the blood of those murdered by the herdsmen had opened a new chapter for the people of the state and country.
While appreciating Fayose for coming to condole with the people of Benue in their time of grief, he commended the National Assembly for rejecting the bias report presented by the Chairman, Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Farmers/Herders crisis.
