From Steve Oko, Umuahia
Barring any last- minute change of mind, the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai; two South East Governors – Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State; and his Anambra State counterpart, Willie Obiano; and some other state actors may appear before a United States of America court to testify over their alleged complicity in the torture and death of Biafra agitators.
The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in a statement issued yesterday, claimed that the US Government had rejected a request by Nigeria Government for the intervention of the US State Department to stop the affected individuals from appearing before the US court.
According to the statement signed by IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, the Federal Government had cited immunity clause as reason for the request to prevent the affected officials from being summoned to the US .
IPOB had filled a suit in America against some state actors for their alleged complicity in the torture and death of some Biafra agitators in Abia and Anambra States.
