Workers at the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Abuja, under the auspices of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and Medical and Health Workersa�� Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) on Thursday protested the reinstatement of the agencya��s Executive Secretary, Prof. Usman Yusuf.
The workers who did not hid their displeasure on the matter, called for the reversal of the Yusufa��s reinstatement, threatening that a show down with the government if their demands were not met.
The Chairman, MHWUN, NHIS branch, Olawuyi Kayode, said: a�?Our demand is that the man should be removed. Prof. Usman Yusufa��s reinstatement should be reversed with immediate effect. That is our stand. If it is not done, we know what to do.a�?
The union leader reiterated that for the sake of peace and industrial harmony in the NHIS, the Federal Government should, with immediate effect, reverse the reinstatement.
a�?To ensure industrial harmony, fairness, justice and sustain the war against corruption, they should allow the man to go and sort himself out of the anti-corruption cases he has with the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC). We demand a total reversal to ensure industrial harmony in NHIS,a�? he insisted.
The Chairman, ASCSUN, NHIS branch, Abdurazak Omomeji, called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to redeem his integrity posture by revisiting the case and ensure Yusuf is not brought back to the scheme.
