Buhari asks Senate to confirm 23 NPC members

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday forwarded to the Senate three different letters seeking the confirmation of appointments made into three agencies.
In the first letter addressed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the President sought for the confirmation of appointment of Barrister Festus Okoye as a Federal Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), representing the South East geopolitical zone.
In the second letter, the President sought for the confirmation of 23 newly appointed commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).
The commissioner-nominees are Nwanne Nwabuisi (Abia ), Dr. Chidi Ezeoke mni (Anambra ), Barrister Isa Audu Buratai (Borno ), Retired Navy Captain Charles Iyam Ogwa (Cross River ), Sir Richard Odibo (Delta), Okereke Onuabuchi (Ebonyi), Olusegun Aiyejina ( do) and Ejike Ezeh (Enugu).
Others are Hon Abubakar Danburam (Gombe), Prof Uba Nnabue (Imo), Dr. Abdulmalik Durunguwa (Kaduna), Suleiman Lawal (Kano), Prof. Jimoh Habibat Isah (Kogi), Dr. Sa’adu Ayinla Alanamu (Kwara), Nasir Isa Kwarra (Nasarawa) and Barrister Aliyu Datti (Niger).
The rest are Mrs. Seyi Olusanya (Ogun), Dr. Oladiran Iyantan (Ondo), Senator Mudashiru Hussain (Osun), Mrs. Cecelia Dapoet (Plateau), Dr. Ipalibo MacDonald (Rivers) and Sale Saany from Taraba State .
In the third letter, the President sought for the confirmation of membership appointments into the Federal Judicial Service Commission as non-legal practitioners, has Senator Abba Ali from Katsina State as nominee for the North West and Mohammed Sagir from Niger State for the North Central zone.
Buhari also forwarded a letter of condolence to the Senate over the deaths of Senators Ali Wakili (APC Bauchi South) and Mustapha Bukar (APC Katsina North).
While Senator Wakili died on March 17, Senator Bukar died eight days ago.
The Upper House had on resumption of plenary yesterday after its two weeks Easter recess, adjourned till today in honour of Senator Bukar shortly after the adoption of its votes and proceedings of Thursday, March 29, 2018.
