Senator Mao Ohuabunwa who represented Abia North senatorial district in the eight senate, has enjoined the people of the zone not to despair but keep hope alive, expressing faith that their joy will soon be restored.
The former Speaker, ECOWAS Parliament who stated this in his Christmas message likened the current political travails of the district to labour pains of a pregnant woman “which quickly evaporate at the sight of the new baby”.
Ohuabunwa encouraged the people to look unto God who alone knows how to free his people from every kind of bondage .
He recalled that the Messiah, Jesus Christ whose birth is being commemorated as Christmas, came at a time when the Jews had almost given up hope after decades of political subjugation by Rome and other invaders.
The former Senate Committee Chairman on Primary Health said that the joy brought by the birth of Jesus had made not only the Jews but millions of Christians across the globe forget their sorrows and live in rekindled hope of eternal life.
Ohuabunwa also urged the people of the zone to use the Christmas season and show love to one another “just as Jesus who is the reason for the season lived a life of love.”
He further appealed for calm over the political quagmire in the zone vis-a-vis the absence of a representative for the zone currently at the senate, saying that very soon “the people’s joy shall be announced like the angel announced Jesus’ birth “.
Ohuabunwa who advised youths in the zone to abstain from any act not in congruent with the lifestyle of Jesus, prayed God to shower his immeasurable blessings on the people and give them reason to be joyful.
“My wish for the great people of Abia North is a joyous Christmas celebration, God’s prosperity and peace “, he said.
