Gov. Lalong vows to sanction individuals, communities who deface public roads

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State said his administration is spending huge sums of money in road infrastructural development to promote the socio-economic development of its citizens.

The Governor also warned that, government will not condone any community or individual who deface or destroy the roads for whatever reason.

Lalong gave the warning the through the State Commissioner of Information and Communication Dan Manjang in Jos, the State Capital.

According to him, “No community or individual is permitted to erect speed bums on any road or break them to pass pipes or cables.

The Governor has also decried the burning of tires on roads during festivities.

“Consequently all local government administrations in the state have been given the marching order to ensure all illegal road blocks are removed across the state.

The Information and Communication Commissioner, maintained that the State Ministry of Works has been mandated to constitute a committee to ensure compliance.

“In addition, zebra crossings will be created where appropriate on the roads”, he explained.

While appealing to motorists against over speeding, the Governor implored the Federal Road Safety Commission and and other traffic enforcement agencies to sanction reckless road users when apprehended.
