Excitement at maiden Adazi – Ani 2019 Music Carnival

LAWERENCE NWIMO writes that there was huge excitement for the people of Adazi- Ani in Anambra state as the community marked its first ever Interdenominational music concert to thank God for his faithfulness as well as prepare for the upcoming year.

It was a classic event as the sons and daughters of the town trooped to the St Jude primary school field in anticipation of the presence of renowned gospel artists in the persons of Ossy Osina, Chinyere Udoma, Godwin Olajide, Chioma Ndukwe who thrilled the audience with their top-notch performances.

The interdenominational praise and worship concert which was in partnership with different religious groups in Adazi- Ani was made more lively with laudable performances of choristers from different churches in Adazi-Ani, first from the St Jude Anglican Church followed by St Peters Catholic Church, Sacred Heart, and St Thomas Anglican Church Neni respectively.

Speaking at the Occasion, the Archdeacon in charge of St. Jude Parish and Adazi- Ani Archdeaconry, Venerable Christian Okafor said that the music carnival is an interdenominational affair that has all the denominations coming together under one umbrella to praise God showing that Adazi- -Ani is united.

Venerable Okafor who is the host for the event which lasted till dawn said that music is an integral part of life and there is no way the world can be complete without it. He said that part of the celebration is the music carnival which stand to remind people the need to rejoice in God because Christians owe everything they have to God.

“We use this festive period to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ who came in the likeness of man and dwelled among us. We are also celebrating him because he came as a savior to save us from our sins and to bring us to eternal life in God. The different churches in Adazi-Ani town agreed to unite and give God the maximum praise which he deserves.”

Fr. Lawrence Onwuaso of St Peters Catholic Church Adazi-Ani said that the carnival is an opportunity for the people of Adazi Ani to gather and praise God as one family. He said that his expectation is for everyone to continue to pray together as one family and as one body of christ irrespective of their denomination. He prayed for God’s motivation to Christians towards doing good and living lives as espected of Christians.

Meanwhile the convener of the 2019 maiden edition of the Adazi- Ani Music Carnival and CEO RISE Clinic Adazi Ani, Dr. Emeka Okeke said that the idea behind the programme was to foster unity among the people of Adazi- Ani as it is the prerequisite to progress of every community irrespective. He said the program was a joint affair of the different churches in Adazi-Ani and not a single denomination affair made to promote peaceful coexistence among the people.

Dr. Okeke added that the it is necessary to praise God for the out- going year as well as seize the opportunity to ask for his grace and protection for the succeeding year.
