Gov. Ugwuanyi extols Onyishi for establishing entrepreneurial varsity

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State at the weekend performed the foundation laying ceremony for the construction of an entrepreneurial university at Ekwegbe community in Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of the state.

Ugwuanyi, who commended the founder of the university, Evangelist Maduka Onyishi, for investing in higher education sector, described the project as capable of providing massive gainful employment for Nigerian youths and producing the needed skilful manpower for driving the nation’s economy.

His words: “As you we are aware, one of the greatest challenges of this country is youth unemployment. An entrepreneurial university will address the issue of youth unemployment by making graduates not only to be self employed, but employers of labour “.

“I therefore salute the courage and vision of this consummate entrepreneur, Dr Maduka Onyishi, in proposing this entrepreneurial university. This is where Nigeria should be, in a technology driven 21st century.”

Earlier, Evangelist Maduka said his concept for establishing the university is not as additional business venture, but to uplift the society in view of the value of education to human development.

He said, “Maduka Onyishi did not conceive this university as another business. Not another subsidiary. I see it wholly as a social service which should improve the lives of people of all races, mould for limitless attainments for children of all people of the world, irrespective of creed or class.

“Crucially, the vision is that of citadel of learning in all ramifications, founded on the best principles and run on the best ethical practices”.

Onyishi, who doubles as Peace Mass Transit boss, disclosed further that the motive behind his the university is in fulfillment of his vow to God in 1993 to give back to the society, if blessed by God.
