Corruption Bane of Underdevelopment of Sports In Nigeria – NVBF President

…Commends Sports Minister

The president of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engr. Nimrod Musa has commended minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sunday Dare for his drive to stem out corruption from sports.

He said his desire to give grassroot sports development the needed attention is the beginning of fighting corruption and corrupt practice in sports.

Engr. Nimrod state this in an interview with newsmen in Hong, Adamawa state during the final match of Engr. Nimrod sponsored YSFON Under 20 Football competition in Hong local government area of Adamawa state.

He called on wealthy individuals and cooperate organization to support sports in the country stressing that the minister of sports hi working very hard to remove those corrupt practice that has affected and discourage investors to invest in our sports development.

Hong local government area is one of the seven LGA that was taken by Boko Haram in 2014 but today according to Engr. Nimrod ” the youths for the past one week has been engaged in sporting activities despite the devastating effect of Boko Haram ”

” From this competition, the technical department of YSFON has discovered no fewer than 10 players that will represent the state in kano later this year”

The number one Volleyball player in Nigeria, noted that there nothing anyone can the youth than to encourage them in sporting activities like this.

While commending the minister of Sports Development, Mr. Sunder Dare for organizing similar grassroot sports program in Oyo state, Nigeria, he called on corporate organization and individuals to join hands with the minister in developing stops in Nigeria.

The one week competition was Hong Ward emerging as champions of the Engineer Musa Nimrod U-20 Hong Local Government Area Soccer championship.

They lifted the prestigious trophy of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) competition after beating Kwarhi Ward by a lone goal in the well attended final on Tuesday.

While the in the third place match, losers in the semi finals, Thilbang and Daksiri wards battled in an epic clash that saw Daksiri emerge winners, after beating Thilbang 3-1.

High point of the closing ceremony was the presentation of trophies and awards to those who distinguished themselves.

National Organising Secretary of YSFON, Malami Abdulrazak Usman described the competition as a huge success.
“It was very successful with several hitherto hidden talents putting up spectacular display of skills.

He said “the Federation is grateful to the sponsor, Engineer Musa Nimrod, who is the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF).

“We are also grateful to the Chairman of Hong LGA and other management team of the council for their support,” he added.
