Sanitation: We will improve,take stiffer measures on defaulters – Commissioner

The end of month sanitation exercise introduced by the incumbent government of Governor Abdullahi A.Sule, have had it first resumed for 2020 last Saturday.

Over 300 defaulters were apprehended for neglecting the state law,promulgate to have individuals clean up their environment between 7- 10 am, which is geared towards ensuring hygiene ,thus promoting healthy living.

The commissioner for environment, Honourable Musa Ibrahim,who led a team of environmental health officers to some parts of lafia ,the Nasarawa state capital, expressed satisfaction with the compliance by some members of the public.,saying the exercise being the first for the year had 75% responsiveness against last year when it was introduced.

He however stated that his ministry through the state government efforts will be taking more stiffer measures in enforcing the law,by providing the essential tools and equipments.

The commissioner also assured that the ministry is working towards improving the mobile court,more man power and provides waste bins in strategic areas across the state capital.

The Authority report that despite the limited hands and mobility for effective exercise ,shops and markets were closed.

Those apprehended are mostly motorcyclists and petty traders,who will be prosecuted by the state mobile court.
