Mr Dare made the declaration, while speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Oyo Unity Cup on Saturday, 25th Of January, 2020 at the Soun Stadium Ogomosho, Oyo State.

The honourable minister, who is the brain behind the Oyo Unity Cup lauded the support given to the tournament by Nigerian ex internationals

“I am so glad to return back home to organize a youth tournament in Oyo State, it is a way of taking the youth out of the street and discovering talents for future National Team.

“Also, I’m so excited bringing ex internationals like Daniel Amokachi, Taribo West, Joseph Yobo and other notable dignitaries to Ogbomosho. I want to use this medium to announce the sponsorship of 20 youth coaches across Oyo State for LMC / LaLiga partnership coming up in two weeks,” he said.

Meanwhile, board member of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Aisha Falode has commended the Youth and Sports minister for his initiative toward sports development in the country.

“We must commend the Minister for the Unity Cup here in Ogbomosho. If we have this kind of programme replicated across the Local Governments and States in Nigeria then we would have a pool of players to draw from when we need replacements for those who have given there services to their fatherland.

“Also the Minster has fared on other sports such as badminton, beach soccer, handball, para lifting and volleyball. What we have here is a Minister who is not only talking the talk but walking the talk. He has said he is not a Minister of football and in everything he has done since his swearing in, he has demonstrated that indeed he is not a football minister. He has touched handball, basketball, athletics, gymnastics, boxing and other areas of sports,” she said.
