Veteran politician commends Zamfara gov on peace initiative

From Salisu Zakari Maradun, Gusau

Governor Bello Matawallen Maradun of Zamfara State has been described as the best governor the state has ever had from the return of democracy to date in terms of controlling and managing of public funds.

The description was made by a veteran politician in the state, Alhaji Muazu Idris in an interview with our reporter in Gusau capital of the state during the week.

This came when the governor out rightly turned down a request by some selfish people in the state to organize a reception for him when he returned from his Chinese tour in which hundreds of millions of naira would have been expended.

According to the octogenarian politician who said he had been in the circle of politics since the era of late Sir Ahmadu Bello of sokoto, the foresight of the governor to refuse much an offer was again a clear indication that he only means zamfara, its people and development.

Muazu also disclosed that what the governor exhibited in that direction was nothing but honesty an fear of God, which is what is needed to all leaders who have been shouldered with the responsibility of their led ones.

The politician further explained that there is need for the governor to always be careful and watchful against those around him, whose aim in the government is only to get money at the expense of the common man in the society. I think what this man did deserved commendation and by doing what he did, it also vindicated him that he has not come to the government house to enrich himself, but rather to ensure total peace and development”, he added.

I am also glad that the governor is redoubling efforts in the process of reconciliation between the government and the bandits, it is highly commendable, because the state under one year of his administration, became comfortably habitable, people now move freely as against the previous year before he took over”.

Speaking further Alhaji Muazu narrated that whatever the people of the state need is not as good as peace, which was snatched away by some undesirable elements saying.

We have been under fire for over a decade. So many lives were lost and properties worth billions of naira destroyed all as a result of absence of peace, but today we are happy that the incumbent governor, who for long has been expressing his concern over the then lingering insecurity issue, that few weeks after taking over the mantle of the leadership of the state, swung into action of how to ensure the return of peace in the state and with the prayers of the people on a daily basis, he was able to achieve it, and today one can go to any part of the state with out exercising any fear, and this is all and only what we the people of the state need, whatever one will do to us, it is not peace is useless.”

On the trip of the governor to china, the octogenarian Stated that the trip had broken a jinx that many governors should not break. I learned that he met with different groups of investors who will come to the state to invest, it is a welcome development, because forever 10 years now, not even new investors, but even those who were here before have taken to their heels for fear of attack on their lives and properties due to lack of peace but now with the present positive situation, they are willing to come and all these efforts were made by the governor and in addition, he was also able to secure admission for 50 Zamfara indigenes who will study in the science institution”.
