The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Department of Fire Service said the Federal Executive Council has approved the procurement of 4 new Water Tenders, 4 additional Water Tankers and 500 fire man suits to boost fire prevention.
The Director FCT Department of Fire Service, Mr. Julius Opetunsin disclosed this when he led other fire fighters in continuation of the on going Fire Prevention Sensitization Campaign to Kuje Area Council.
Opetunsin noted that the commitment of FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has yielded tremendous results, which show that the fire fighters and stations within the territory were properly equipped.
He said, “the Federal Executive Council approved 4 water tenders, a fire appliance we use to fight fire, 4 water tankers, they are different from water tenders , water tankers are used as back to water tenders. Earlier on, FEC also approved for us the procurement of 500 fire man suit”.
Opetunsin stated that the fire prevention campaign has become so important that officers of the department have been well motivated to penetrate all communities to educate rural residents on fire prevention measures.
“I wish to stress that the officers from the department will be visiting the various domains in the Area Council to sensitize the local communities “, he noted.
Also, Isa Abdullahi, Director Legal of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council ( AMMC) who represented FCT Minister, said the Minister was determined to keep the nation’s capital away from fire disaster, by the directive to stop indiscriminate bush burning.
