Zamfara communities reiterate need for peace

From ZakariMaradun, Gusau

Communities in Zamfara have continued to condemn the speculation making the rounds that the present administration was out to intimidate those perceived to be its opponents, describing such allegation as untrue and baseless.

They also called on the people of the state to remain law-abiding and support the governor in his quest to rid the state of banditry and other crimes.

This reaction followed the recent demolition of a house belonging to one LwauliIzaka, a card-carrying member of the ruling PDP in the state but who defected to the opposition APC for reason know to him in Maradun

According to them, the demolition exercise was legally carried out as the house was but on a land belonging to the government and on several occasions the owner was warned not to develop it without permission, but went ahead to develop.

It was also gathered reliably that the authorities of the state regional and urban programme sent letters of warning to him to desist from developing the land but he did not listen to them, even as many people of the same problem stopped to develop their plots as a result of the order given to them not to.

Many people in Maradun who spoke to the AUTHORITY expressed their concerns over the situation, describing it as an attempt to tarnish the good image of the governor and his government.

Malan Dan Ali, a resident of Maradun told our reporter that it is disheartening that of all the efforts being made by Governor MatawallenMaradun to restore peace in the state, some undesirables among them are trying to destroy the peace which they have been yearning for over a decade.
“It is unfortunate that up to now there are people in Zamfara who don’t wish this governor well. I think what the people of this state are supposed to do to help this government is prayer which for long we have been doing to have peace.”

The whole world knows how much we have been suffering from the hands of armed bandits, evento even sleep inside our houses was not possible. But God in His infinite mercy brought this man to us to be a saviour. From the day this governor took over the mantle of the leadership of this state to date, he was able to bring peace which made it now possible for us to sleep with our eyes closed and all markets that were deserted are now open and men and women and even children can move freely as against before his coming.”

Also speaking, AlhajiJibrilAdamu, a politician in Gusau town, told the AUTHORITY that all that were being speculated are nothing but politics, asking “why the speculation now.”

According to him, it is a shame that somebody from Maraun, a home town of the governor would have the gut to castigate him (the governor), I think he was only stabbing his stomach with a knife.”

All efforts to talk to LawaliIzala whose house was demolished, proved abortive.
