KEDCO Begs Customers To N1.2b January Bills

From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano

The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has appealed to its numerous customers to pay their electricity bills following the N1.2 billion uncollectible bills for the month of January, 2020.

According to a Statement by KEDCO’s Head of Corporate Communiction, Mr. Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the Company’s is worried over the huge debt at the beginning of the year, describing it a clog on the wheel of effective and steady power distribution in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States.

The Statement noted that all efforts must be made by stakeholders to ensure that no party suffers as the N1.2billion debt did not give a sign of the needed corporation that KEDCO has always sought from the customers.

It quoted KEDCO’s Managing Director, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, as saying that,“ if we had mapped out plans to improve on our achievements last year to continue to give our customers the right and timely services in terms of power supply as well as responding to complaints, the least of encouragement we also demand, is for them to pay their bills.

“Such huge debt in January for a new year is not too friendly, but we can only appeal to them to pay their bills for us to continue to serve them better. In business money is key and when we cannot get back our investment in terms of service rendered it has a way of bringing down morale.

“But we remain resolute and committed to our responsibilities while seeking more understanding from our customers so we can also fulfill our own part of the commitment to relevant stakeholders who transmit power to us.’’

He also called on all customers who may be having issues with the new cashless payment platform made available to meet any of KEDCO staff for speedy resolution or assistance on how to pay their bills online or through other cashless means.
