Federal University Birnin-Kebbi matriculates 1,305 students

Federal University Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State has offered admission to 1,305 fresh students for the 2019/2020 academic session.

A statement signed by the University’s spokesman, Jamilu Magaji, which was made available to newsmen, said the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B.B. Shehu made this known while delivering his address at the 6th matriculation ceremony of the institution held on Tuesday.

The VC, while congratulating the students for securing admission into the University, urged them to shun indecent dressing, extremism, cultism, drug abuse, examination misconduct, violence and also be security conscious.

The statement quoted the Vice Chancellor as saying that the University had introduced new degree programmes which will come into force in the 2019/2020 academic session.

He listed the new programmes to include Medicine and Surgery, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Anatomy and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Physiology.

The VC also revealed that the Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences would be split into two independent faculties.

The Vice Chancellor also informed the gathering that the Faculty of Environmental Sciences would relocate to its new building at the main campus soon.

In his remarks, the Dean of Students Affairs Division, Prof. Ibrahim Magawata admonished the students to focus on their studies.

He maintained that the University would continue to appreciate excellent academic performance by students in different endeavors.
